About KissaMoon
So… what exactly is a KissaMoon?
KissaMoon is pronounced “KEE-sah-Moon.”
Kissa means cat in Finnish which brings us to Dobby, Kendra’s very important feline business associate.
The “Moon” came naturally from there, and KissaMoon was born: a little Finnish-inspired shop with a cat, a crescent moon and a whole lot of NOM!
It started with one summer…
KissaMoon began in 2026 when Kendra was accepted into Ontario’s Summer Company program, which gives young entrepreneurs the opportunity to create and run a real business with mentorship, training and start-up support.
The original idea was simple: bring some of the Finnish treats and products our family loves to Haliburton.
KissaMoon opened its tiny summer shop in downtown Haliburton on July 1, stocked with Finnish chocolate, candy, salmiakki, Moomin treasures, sauna products and Nordic finds.
And then something rather unexpected happened.
People loved it.
What began as a summer student business quickly developed a personality and a following of its own.
Meet Kendra
KissaMoon is Kendra’s business.
She chooses the products, learns the joys and occasional chaos of running a small business, and is figuring out what KissaMoon can become as it grows beyond its first summer.
And, of course, Dobby
No KissaMoon story would be complete without Dobby.
Part mascot, part quality-control supervisor and entirely convinced that everything happening in the house concerns him, Dobby inspired the Kissa in KissaMoon and continues to make appearances throughout the brand.
If your parcel someday arrives stamped “Packed with love by Dobby,” you’ll know who is really running things.
From Haliburton, with a little Finnish heart
Today, KissaMoon is growing from its little summer-shop beginnings into an online home for Finnish treats, Moomin magic, sauna favourites and Nordic finds.
Some things will change as KissaMoon grows.
The important bits won’t: discovering something fun, sharing a little piece of Finland, and giving people plenty of reasons to say…
